JEE Main is scheduled to be conducted in the month of April.So this article details on the procedure to be followed for calculation of main 2016 scores.
Individuals appearing for the exam must note that percentile score and percentage of marks scored are poles apart, so they should not complicate between the two things.
Percentage is calculated on the basis of calculating the score taking total marks as 100, whereas percentile scored by a candidate defines the number of candidates who have scored less than the respective candidate.
JEE Main Marks Normalization
Since there are a weight-age of both JEE Main marks and class 12th marks, the normalization procedure would apply to both the marks and then final score would be calculated according to the weight age. The weight-age for Joint entrance Exam Marks would be 60 % while for class 12th marks would be 40 %.
There are numerous Boards in India which conduct the class 12th examinations. Since there is a different syllabus, difficulty level & pattern of examination for each board, the marks scored by the candidates in board examination would be normalized irrespective of the board.
The normalization is done on the basis of the calculation of percentile. The normalization is done taking consideration the below mentioned 5 subjects:-
- Chemistry/Biology/Biotechnology/Technical vocational subject
- Any one Language Subject
- Any subject which is different from the subjects mentioned above.
